LFA 1000 – Inconel 600 – Thermal Diffusivity/Thermal Conductivity
Nickel-Chromium-Iron alloy – Thermal Conductivity
The nickel-chromium-iron alloy INCONEL® 600 has good mechanical properties such as high strength. It is also resistant to corrosion and heat. Thus, it is an often-used engineering material for various applications including chemical and electronic industry.
The Inconel sample was measured by LFA to determine the thermal diffusivity in the temperature range from room temperature to 500 °C. With data for the specific heat capacity and density, the thermal conductivity can be calculated.
Both, the thermal diffusivity and thermal conductivity increase with temperature. The measured data points were also compared to literature values (solid lines). Here, a small deviation can be recognized, which is maximal three percent.
