The Chair of Materials Technology, headed by Prof. Dr.-Ing. At Materials Chemistry, RWTH Aachen University in Germany, our research philosophy revolves around quantum-mechanically guided materials design. This approach has led us to explore various application fields, including metal cutting, tribological coatings, energy conversion, and functional and biomedical materials.

To support our research in the area of thermoelectric properties of thin films, we have been utilizing the Linseis LSR-3/1100 for approximately six months. We are delighted to report that the instrument has been a perfect fit for our requirements, allowing for precise local analysis of our thin films. As the leader of the Surface Engineering for High-Temperature Applications group, I want to confirm that we acquired a LaserFlash Analyzer model LFA-1000/1600°C and a dilatometer model L75 VS1600 to conduct thermal conductivity analysis of metal and ceramic substrates, along with high-temperature coatings.

Since the acquisition, we have been extremely content with the user-friendly operation of both pieces of equipment, the practical software they utilize, and the consistency of the results we achieve.

Since the installation of the dilatometer L75 VD 1600°C, we have been making extensive use of it. To date, we have encountered no hardware issues with the device or its data acquisition system. We have found that new team members can be readily trained to operate the equipment.

The use of the two available furnaces has proven to be advantageous for us. On one hand, it allows us to achieve precise measurements, and on the other hand, it enables us to efficiently handle various measurement tasks in the institute alongside our primary research activities.

We acquired a High-Pressure STA from Linseis, designed for operation in a temperature range of up to 1550 °C and a pressure range of up to 80 bars.
